Asia Nanotech Camp in 2008
|
Location:
|
Japan
|
From: 2008/02/04 To: 2008/02/21
|
Introduction:
|
As the first event of ANF Human Resources Development activities that
Dr Hiroshi Yokoyama, past chairman and one of the founding members of ANF, proposed at ANFoS2006 (ANF 3rd Summit Meeting held Hong Kong)in November 2006, that his team are be planning to organize the Asia Nanotech Camp, tentatively scheduled
from Feb 4, 2008 to Feb 21, 2008. The basic concept of Asia Nanotech
Camp is to provide our younger generation of nanotechnologists with an
opportunity to learn the frontier of this field and, perhaps more
importantly, to build personal relationships across the Asian nations.
The period is so chosen to match the Nanotech 2008 in Tokyo (Feb
13-15), which will be a big learning place for all of us.
Brief outline the event: the Camp will consist of two or three participants from each ANF member economy (selection of those most talented young people who will be leading the field in future in each economy will be up to the local ANF group). Dr Yokoyama and his team are making every effort to fully support the participation (however, it is of course appreciative if the local ANF group can partially support the participation of their delegates). The program will involve variety of activities, along with listening to lectures by experts, such as internal seminars, visiting nanotech companies, etc.
This event, under the umbrella of ANF, will be co-organized and
co-sponsored by AIST, NIMS, Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Asia Nanotech Camp 2008
Feb 4-21, 2008, Japan
The basic concept of Asia Nanotech Camp 2008 (ANC2008) is to provide our younger generation of nanotechnologists (especially PhD students and postdoctoral researchers from the ANF network economies) with an opportunity to learn the frontier of this field and more importantly, to build personal relationships across the Asian nations. The period is so chosen to match the Nanotech 2008 in Tokyo (Feb 13-15th, 2008) which is the world?s largest nanotech event and where nanotechnology leaders meet.
ANC2008 was initiated and organized under the ANF Human Resources Development Working Group led by Dr Hiroshi Yokoyama. We hope this program will become a continuous effort within ANF network economies in fostering a young generation of nanotechnology leaders.
We need your cooperation in selecting 2-3 young representatives from your economy to participate ANC2008. Selection Criteria should include (in order of importance)
1. Passion for Nanotechnology
2. Highly Motivated and Energetic
3. Strong organization skills and communication skills
4. Age between 23-35
5. Excellence in academic research
6. Entrepreneur mind/skills/experience
The local organizer will cover participants with their local expenses including transportation and lodging during their stay in Japan. International travel support is available upon request. The program will involve variety of activities including attending lectures by experts, giving seminars, participating nanotech 2008, visiting nanotech companies, and industry centers and others in Tsukuba, Tokyo and Nagoya. The participants are also requested to introduce their research activities in the seminars, work on group assignments and present the results at the workshop.
This event, under the umbrella of ANF, will be co-organized and co-sponsored by AIST, NIMS, Tokyo Institute of Technology (TIT) under the global COE program.
