ANF Event Details:
Malaysia Nanotechnology Forum 2005 (MNF2005)
Location:
Institute Ibnu Sina, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Bahru
From:  2005/07/04   To:  2005/07/04
Introduction:
The first Malaysia Nanotechnology Forum (MNF 2005) is organised by Ibnu Sina Institute (IIS) in collaboration with the Deputy Prime Minister Office as the platform for the establishment of the Inisiatif Nanoteknologi Nasional (INN), (National Nanotechnology Initiatives), the key technology of the 21st Century. In conjunction with MNF2005, IIS will also host the Asian Nano Forum (ANF) Steering Committee/Coordinator Meeting. Representatives from 13 Asian economies are expected to attend the meeting to be held concurrently on July 4th 2005.

The Malaysian Nanotechnology Forum 2005 is a very high level gathering consisting of 50 invited participants representing various Malaysian government agencies, ministries and institutions of higher learning and 20 representatives of the ANF Network Economies. MNF programme will consider a vast range of nanotechnology applications and explore the potential of nanotechnology for the country?s development.

The event central point will be discussion and preparation of a cabinet paper for the Deputy Prime Minister to establish the Malaysia National Nanotechnology Initiatives and illustrate the integrated diverse innovation potential which nanotechnology can offer for the development of Malaysia. The draft of the paper is prepared by the INN Technical Committee consisting of 30 members. Therefore your active participation in MNF2005 will influence the Malaysia INN and consequently the future of Malaysia S & T, industry and economic development.

The challenge of the Forum is to establish "nano" as high-tech-quality-feature and way of life of the 21st Century. Not only will the complete nano value creation chain be featured, but more importantly, the decision makers from government ministries, institutions of higher learning, research institutes and related agencies as potential applicators of current nano products and technologies, will participate in the forum in order to generate proposals for developments. The MNF will be assisted by delegates from 13 Asian economies representing the Asian Nano Forum (ANF).
MNF 2005 includes presentations from a number of experts and economies who are driving the nano revolution in the Asia Pacific Region. These include Dr Kazunobu Tanaka, Executive Fellow of Japan National Institute of Advanced Science and Technology (AIST) who will present a Global Overview of Nanotechnology R & D Trends. The Chairman of ANF, Dr Hiroshi Yokoyama, Director of Nanotechnology Research Institute (NRI) of AIST will demonstrate how nanomaterials are having enormous influence on aerospace, microelectronics, healthcare, textiles and consumer products. Dr Terry Turney, Director of the Science in the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) of Australia will highlight on the application of nanotechnology on energy, water, environment and agriculture. Very importantly the Asia Nano Forum delegates will present briefings on each economy`s Nanotechnology Development.
